Activetics was developed by Wayne Bishop in 2008, driven by his desire to do more to address the needs of mature workers in Australia. Rebranded in 2019, Changing Gears is now a formidable workforce planning business that supports organisations in providing cost effective solutions to challenges driven by an ageing workforce.
Our Service offering:
Working with internal and external partners, we have developed a ‘whole of organisation approach’ aimed at creating an age-friendly culture.
This approach addresses the major challenges:
- workforce planning
- risk management – managing staff turnover challenges, workers’ compensation and OHS issues
- business continuity, knowledge transfer and succession planning
and the retention of knowledge and skills
- manager/employee engagement and improved productivity
- employee value proposition for the entire workforce – well-being programmes, diversity and inclusion
Our methodology draws on best practice from around the world. It comprises a number of components including awareness and training workshops, age-friendly policies, mentors, wellbeing programs and the coaching and accreditation of internal champions.
Our research with mature workers shows that there is no substitute for one-to-one coaching/consultations. It reflects their preferred learning style and creates a framework for “personalised” planning, transitions and interventions.
Very few mature employees have a purposeful plan or pathway for life beyond work.
There are three key areas that need to be addressed:
- Superannuation – understanding their financial “position” and what super entitlements and options are available
- Government entitlements (e.g. Centrelink) – understanding entitlements
- Life planning – creating a framework, blueprint and pathway for a successful life beyond work
We have developed a “one-day” format with coaches representing each of the essential elements through the ‘Changing Gears’ workshop that can include participants partners.
