The Chad Robinson Legacy Foundation is in honour of former Parramatta Eels and Sydney Roosters NRL player Chad Robinson, who lost his battle to mental illness in Nov 2016.
Chad will always be remembered for courageously shining a spotlight on the invisible struggle of mental illness and helping others who were also suffering. Our mission is to carry on his legacy by championing the long term mental well being of athletes.
Professional athletes are vulnerable to mental health problems and Chad’s story resonates with many athletes current and retired.
As a foundation, we believe that collaborative action is necessary to deliver a meaningful long-term solution. To make this a reality, leadership is required from an organisation that is solely focused on the overall wellbeing of athletes both on and off the field. Our ambition is to be that organisation who delivers this leadership and focus.
The Chad Robinson Legacy Foundation wanted to unite all major sporting codes, academics, relevant medical specialists, past and present players to address mental health in athletes in Our inaugural ‘Beyond the Game Conference’. We believe that we can make a difference and be the leaders who will join the Australian sporting world together to address a widespread issue.
Long term goals are to be able to provide, mental health services and programs, education program, career transition programs and to be a support network to athletes who are in need and be a pioneering foundation who will collaborate and unite the Australian sporting world.
