The Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) operating at the University of Oulu, Finland, consists of two research units: CWC Radio Technologies and CWC Networks & Systems.
CWC aims at multi-level mastering of future wireless communications from a myriad of requirements to potential technological solutions. The objective of CWC is to provide a widely recognized, high-quality international research and learning environment for its 130 research staff members thus enabling the production of cutting edge research results and novel innovations in cooperation with its research partners. In all its activities, CWC strives towards rapidly reacting to changes occurring in its operational environment as well as to the expectations and needs expressed by its national and global research partners.
The scope of CWC spans across a comprehensive range of wireless telecommunications topics. The research builds on radio channel competence, expanding through communications signal processing and radio access technologies, finally addressing the wireless internetworking domain. CWC also applies this basic knowledge to the application of wireless technology in several fields, including medical ICT as well as energy and environment.
