Increasing pressure on budgets and traditional sources of grant funding drying up, meant Two Rivers Housing in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire needed to find new ways to make savings and attract fresh income.
Hand-in-hand with this was the desire to diversify and create new opportunities to streamline existing operations, to offer training and employment for tenants and other local people, and capitalise on the potential to market a variety of professional business services to external customers.
Centigen was developed to assist in the above pressures and allow Two Rivers the ability to continue to give future generations the chance of renting a home at a price they can afford.
The services will complement and extend existing in-house capability and skills, as well as offering a more cost-effective alternative to services procured from third party suppliers or contractors.
The aim is to achieve savings and attract new income that will be gifted to the parent charity. This will supplement existing funds and help to secure the future prosperity of Two Rivers Housing for the benefit of its current and future residents.
The result was Centigen Facilities Management, established in December 2013 under the direction of Gerry McFall.
