CTEC is a cutting-edge terrorism and extremism research center based in Monterey, CA at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. We employ students and experts from both Middlebury College and the Middlebury Institute. CTEC has five main research verticals: - Online extremism, including sponsored projects with technology companies; - Threat financing, with special focus on cryptocurrency and money laundering; - Artificial Intelligence, including a partnership with research firm OpenAI; - Asymmetric conflict, with a focus on special operations, disinformation, and civil war; - Education, with a speaker series, student workshops, and data analysis mentoring.
