The Center for Western Priorities is a Denver-based nonpartisan conservation organization that serves as a source of accurate information, promotes responsible policies and practices, and ensures accountability at all levels to protect land, water, and communities in the American West.
Launched in 2012, CWP advances responsible conservation and energy practices by encouraging open, public debate and working to advance those discussions online, in the media, and throughout Western communities.
Most recently, CWP has launched a number of campaigns and reports on current issues important to the West including the emergence of public lands and the outdoors as a wedge issue in the 2018 election, the impact and outstanding need for the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and the expansion of oil and gas development on the doorstep of national parks and monuments.
CWP’s policy and advocacy work has been referenced by The New York Times, Washington Post, NPR, CNN, MSNBC, Associated Press, The Atlantic, Politico, and dozens more national and regional news organizations.
