CISPA was founded in 1970 by a handful of pioneers who were concerned with ensuring a certain level of professionalism in accountancy. The enactment of the Public Accountants Law which became fully effective in 2008 was then the culmination of these efforts, making CISPA the regulator of all public accountants (audit professionals) in the Cayman Islands.
In April 2016, the Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants (CISPA) became an institute (CIIPA) to better reflect the association’s regulatory and educational roles. CIIPA is currently Cayman’s largest professional association with close to 1100 members. It became a full member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) in 2013, which further strengthened the reputation of the profession in Cayman and the jurisdiction on a whole.
CIIPA's vision is to promote and preserve the accounting profession and to be a valued leader in the ongoing growth and success of the Cayman Islands
