California Theatre Center was founded in 1976 with the purposes of creating quality theatrical experiences for youth and families; instilling an early appreciation of literature and the fine arts in tomorrow's artists and citizens; and providing outstanding educational opportunities and training in the theatre arts.
Over its 35 years of existence, the company has provided both a home for collaborative, creative work in our field and a home for artists who seek to stretch their limits by associating with a company which focuses on a collaborative philosophy, the stability of long-term contracts and also on allowing them to grow and develop in their field. We stress the ensemble and the joy of performing and creating theatre which nourishes, illuminates and transforms lives. While our audience members of all ages and our theatre education students are the recipients of our company’s reflective values and of our dedication to our mission, CTC attempts to provide the best possible environment for theatre artists to thrive.
At CTC, we further believe that it is important to think of excellence as a process rather than a product. Our company strives toward the goal of outstanding theatre and educational experiences which offer others the opportunities to be creative, to be enlightened and to share our passion. We are driven by our search for excellence and the highest quality we can achieve - whether in our professional productions for children, in our Summer Rep productions for general audiences, or in our many outreach and educational programs.
