The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps build character and teach critical life lessons to disadvantaged young people residing in America’s most distressed communities through baseball and softball themed programs. During his 37 year career with the Baltimore Orioles organization, Cal Ripken, Sr. taught the basics of the game and life to players big and small. After he passed away, his sons Cal and Bill recognized that not every child is lucky enough to have such a great mentor and role model. In this spirit, they and their family started the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation in 2001 to honor his legacy. The Foundation provides opportunities for kids to play in safe environment, live healthy lifestyles, and learn to make productive choices for their futures. Since 2001, partnerships with America’s most successful youth organizations have enabled us to reach hundreds of thousands of kids across the country.
