Cal Berkeley Democrats was founded in 1960 and is the official arm of the Democratic Party at the University of California, Berkeley. We have the largest active membership of any chapter of the California College Democrats, and one of the most active chapters of the California Young Democrats. We have a strong tradition of being involved in Democratic politics at both the local and state levels – our members have worked in city council races, presidential campaigns, government offices, and everything in between. In addition to working to get Democratic officials elected, our annual events include the California Democratic Party Convention, community service projects, campus debates against the Republicans and Libertarians, and a variety of other social and professional events.
Cal Berkeley Democrats is committed to making the goals of the Democratic Party realities; these include but are not limited to – affordable higher education, good jobs with good pay, responsible environmental use, and affordable health care for every American.
