CO2CO is a carbon removal start-up. It has developed a novel process of growing micro-algae and converting this into biochar, which can be used for agricultural or afforestation purposes, hence embedding the carbon into the soil carbon reservoir.
Using the technology it has developed CO2CO aims to deliver these processes at scale and as a result will remove significant quantities of atmospheric carbon dioxide in the fight against climate change.
The founders of CO2CO comprise seasoned professionals from the energy and infrastructure sectors and academics and scientists from Imperial College, a leading scientific institution, who have been collaborating on the concept for two years.
CO2CO will undergo a process of validation before it can commence large scale carbon dioxide removal.
While the founders believe it is important that a spectrum of solutions are available to combat climate change including employing more energy efficient operations and the use of renewable energy, they are passionate about delivering carbon removal which is increasingly being seen as critical if we are to reverse the effects of anthropogenic changes to the environment.
