Unfortunately, children are still being left behind in the fight against HIV and it is our role to identify those children most in need, facilitate their treatment and ensure ongoing care at a facility, community and family level.
South Africa’s commitment to providing life-saving treatment is evident and globally supports the largest HIV treatment programme but sadly KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, remains the epicentre of the HIV epidemic and the most vulnerable, our children bear the brunt of HIV.
Treatment is available at government facilities but treating children is far more complex than the administration of medication. What saves their lives is continuous support at the clinic, family and community levels. CHIVA ensures that all these elements are empowered so that holistic care is provided.
