The Centre for Development and Emergency Practice (CENDEP) is a leading practice-oriented research and teaching centre within Oxford Brookes University that engages with real issues facing vulnerable and poorer people around the world. The programmes and consultancy CENDEP delivers responds to the need to reduce chronic poverty situations around the world through education, research and consultancy.
Each year students come from all round the world to study for the Masters Degree in Development and Emergency Practice (DEP) or one of CENDEP’s shorter programmes. While many have extensive experience working within aid agencies and are looking to make sense of their experience, others want to engage with the issues for the first time or are looking to refocus their careers.
In 2012, CENDEP celebrates the 20th anniversary of its DEP Masters Degree, which in 2001 was awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education. CENDEP currently offer the following learning and research opportunities:
- Development and Emergency Practice (Masters Degree)
- Humanitarian Action and Conflict (Online Postgraduate Certificate)
- Shelter After Disaster (Postgraduate Certificate)
- Leadership for Non Governmental Organisations (short programmes, mentoring and coaching)
- The Small Change Forum
