Lipreading is a skill that can help us to cope with hearing loss. It teaches people to recognise lip shapes, which acts as an aid to help us hear what another person is saying.
Lipreading classes can teach us coping strategies and and act as a support group where we can share experiences , which can help with the adjustments needed to cope with hearing loss.
The Central England Lipreading Support Trust (CELST) was founded in order to raise funds to provide lipreading classes to people with hearing loss.
