Currently in its 22nd year of operation and attracting 400,000 visitors annually, Broadway is located in the Creative Quarter of Nottingham and is recognised as one of the leading independent cinemas and creative media centres in the UK.
Broadway delivers an expanding number of programmes supporting skills, employment and enterprise for people entering and working in the creative and digital content industries alongside providing affordable office space to filmmakers and artists; aiming for its success and that of the creative community to continue in close alliance.
Current projects include:
Near Now is Broadway's commissioning and artist development programme, working closely with artists and designers to produce and present playful projects that critically explore the place and impact of technology in everyday life. Supported by Arts Council England, Near Now invests in practice-led research across art, design, technology and education, acting as a development programme for artistic talent and bold ideas.
Projector is Broadway’s business support programme which assists pre-start, startup and existing businesses in the creative industries. Targeting businesses from disadvantaged wards of Nottingham City, Projector offers participants free 1-2-1 business advice, workshops and events, grants and industry specific support. It is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund Programme 2007 to 2013.
As a partner of the BFI’s Film Academy UK Network, Broadway runs intensive, professional-level programmes for 16 to 19 year olds, offering an entry point to a career in film.
Broadway’s reach extends beyond Nottingham. It was recently selected as one of nine Film Hub Lead Organisations, in partnership with Cambridge Film Trust, working together as the BFI’s Film Audience Network to support the cinema exhibition sector and boost film audiences across the UK.
