The British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) is the UK’s leading bird research organisation harnessing the skills and enthusiasm of over 40,000 volunteers to monitor UK birds. We are guardians of some of the most extensive and long-running datasets about birds anywhere in the world. Our scientific work converts volunteer-gathered data into popular and peer-reviewed publications which provide the foundations of effective conservation action.
