MISSION
Breast Cancer Emergency Fund responds quickly and compassionately to provide emergency financial assistance to low-income women and men in San Francisco and Silicon Valley who are in active treatment for breast cancer, in order to cover basic human needs, lessen financial burdens, and improve quality of life.
Many people with breast cancer have no health insurance or are underinsured. Most will be unable to work during their treatment, adding a huge financial toll to an already difficult struggle. BCEF provides emergency financial assistance to help our clients continue vital medical treatments, avoid utility shut-off, prevent eviction, and maintain stable housing during a devastating illness.
COMPANY OVERVIEW
BCEF has provided over 3.5 million dollars in emergency financial assistance to clients battling breast cancer when they are too sick to work. 100% of all individual gifts directly benefit BCEF clients.
BCEF was founded in 2001 by AIDS Emergency Fund (AEF). BCEF does not receive federal or public funding. We rely on the dedication of an extensive volunteer network and the generosity of many individuals, corporations and foundations. Our signature fundraising event, This Old Bag: The Power of the Purse raises one-quarter of BCEF's annual budget.
