Brant County Health Unit

The Brant County Health Unit is one of 35 health units in Ontario that serves a population of more than 136,000 people in Brant County and the City of Brantford. The Health Unit strives to deliver high quality programs and services to address the unique health needs of our community and improve the health and well-being of our population. Formed in 1945, we are an organization of more than 100 employees led by our Board of Health, Executive Director, and Medical Officer of Health. All of our work is governed by the Health Protection and Promotion Act and the Ontario Public Health Standards. Our programs and services includes: • Testing for various diseases • Quit smoking programs • Working with parents on nutrition, safety, growth and development, and more • Immunizations and vaccines • Dental care • Inspecting local businesses to help reduce and prevent illness • Encouraging physical activity in schools, workplaces, seniors’ groups, and more We also collaborate with other organizations and groups, including government, police, schools, and community agencies.
