Birmingham Conservatoire is a place where talent develops, individual creativity flourishes and successful careers begin. We offer undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes, as well as having a successful junior department, and we have over 600 musicians studying in our supportive and friendly community.
From the summer of 2017, Birmingham Conservatoire will be in its new state-of-the-art building – the first purpose-built music college in the UK for a generation. We are widely acknowledged as one of the world’s most forward-thinking music colleges and the new Conservatoire’s facilities will be unrivalled by any other music institution.
The state-of-the-art, £56 million building will provide a 21st-century home in which the Conservatoire can continue its long tradition of developing top class musical talent. It will include 5 public performance spaces including a purpose built jazz venue, more than 70 practice rooms, and state of the art recording studios.
Led by our Principal, Professor Julian Lloyd Webber, our expert and dedicated teaching staff educates and trains musicians to professional standards in solo performance, composition, chamber music, orchestral playing and jazz. We are a faculty of Birmingham City University and a major concert venue for many of Birmingham’s principal concert promoters and organisations, hosting hundreds of events annually.
Running alongside our full- and part-time courses, our successful Learning and Participation Programme provides a focus for our music education activities and special projects in the local community and further afield.
