Bharat Fritz Werner Limited
Bharat Fritz Werner (BFW) was established in the year 1961 in techno-commercial collaboration with the German company, Fritz Werner Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH. Over the years a strong research and development unit grew within BFW. BFW started building world class machines. Today, BFW is a 100% Indian company. BFW is an ISO9001:2000 and ISO14001:2004 accredited company. BFW is actively engaged in preserving environment within its own campus as well as at its surroundings. The factory is located on a large plot, but the built-up portion has been kept deliberately small. The rest of the area is devoted to sprawling gardens, green house, and ponds.
BFW has planted 40,000 trees in and around the factory. Environment friendly green foliage defines the geographical limits of the BFW plant and filters out air and sound pollutants.
Rain harvesting is used effectively at BFW. Drip irrigation is another technique used successfully here. Mechanical lawn mowers have given way to sheep here. Organic manure from dead leaves, residual food articles and waste from sheep is used for growing the more than 100 varieties of flowers, fruits, spices, aromatic and medicinal plants at BFW.
BFW is working with Rotary International on a World Wildlife Fund project to bring birds back to Bangalore. BFW has a modern effluent treatment plant. The domestic waste of BFW undergoes micro biological treatment in the plant. The process yields clean water. The solid waste, decomposed using bacteria, is used as manure for the gardens.
