The Beloit Sky Carp were founded in 1981 as a not-for-profit, community-owned franchise with the sole purpose of providing the stateline region with affiliated Minor League Baseball.
In 2020 Beloit Professional Baseball, Inc. moved to Gateway Professional Baseball as part of the Studer Families of Companies.
Before the Beloit Sky Carp arrived in town in 1982, the only professional baseball team in Beloit was a team affiliated with the old Class D Wisconsin Association in 1905. The Beloit Sky Carp were a Class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers from when the club joined the Midwest League in 1982 until the end of the 2004 season.
The team was known as the Beloit Brewers (named after the parent club) through the 1994 season, when the club name then changed to the Snappers. Then, in November 2021, the team announced their new identity as the Beloit Sky Carp.
The Sky Carp are former Class A affiliate for the Minnesota Twins (2005-2012) and Oakland Athletics (2013-2020). The Beloit Sky Carp are currently the Miami Marlins High-A affiliate.
