Bay of Plenty Rugby Union, established in 1911, is a non-profit organisation which resources and administers the growth and development of rugby within the Bay of Plenty region. It has a very proud rugby tradition and heritage having produced many New Zealand representatives in the All Blacks, Black Ferns, Maori All Blacks, All Black Sevens and Black Fern Sevens; as well as representative coaches, referees and support staff at an international level.
Based at the University of Waikato Centre for High Performance in Mount Maunganui, the home of the New Zealand Sevens, the union facilitates the running of school, club and representative competitions in which Bay of Plenty Rugby teams participate in.
These include primary school Rippa Rugby and Quick Rip modules, Baywide Secondary School and Club competitions such as the Te Kani Shield and the Farmlands Co-operative Baywide Cup, right up to the Mitre 10 Provincial Women's and Men's Championships.
