The Barre Unified Union School District serves students in grades preschool through 12. The district operates two schools that serve grades PK through 8, as well as a high school and an alternative school that serves grades 9-12 for approximately 2,400 students.
In addition to the regular school program, Barre Unified Union School District offers a full range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, extended summer learning opportunities, and after-school enrichment programs.
Barre City and Barre Town, incorporated separately, are located in the heart of Central Vermont in Washington County. Barre City has approximately 9,052 residents and is the 4th largest city in Vermont. Barre Town is home to four surrounding villages, including East Barre, Graniteville, South Barre, and Websterville, with a population of approximately 7,924.
