It would be difficult, if not impossible, to find a saddlery company with more knowledge and experience then Barnsby. Based in Walsall, the centre of the English Saddlery industry, Barnsby have been making top quality saddles and bridles for over 200 years. In 1793 George Cliff, the father of the company’s founder, Jabez Cliff, commenced his apprenticeship in the saddlery trade in Walsall. The company has been owned and run by his descendants, with the seventh generation of the same family now involved in the business. Added to this, many of the current staff have been with Barnsby all their working lives. Barnsby are also unique in that they hold a Royal Warrant as supplier of Saddlery & Lorinery to H M Queen Elizabeth II. The company manufactures saddles for the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery and The Household Cavalry, the seats of which are still made on the same wooden seat forming blocks originally used in 1900. But the company is far from buried in the past.
