Bankside Gallery is a registered educational charity, opened by Her Majesty The Queen in 1980, and established to celebrate the very best in water-based media and original print, through exhibitions by artists from the Royal Watercolour Society (RWS) and the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE). Our exhibitions are informed by a love of works on paper, and a belief that art should be accessible to all.
The two Royal Societies each hold an annual Open Competition that looks for strong personal vision and an innovative approach to their respective media. A comprehensive education programme of demonstration days, courses, portfolio reviews and talks accompanies all Society exhibitions.
Bankside Gallery is also an ideal venue for private and corporate events.
