We are a non-profit founded in 2005 committed to enabling great documentary films and connecting them to audiences globally.
Based in London and New York we work with filmmakers and partners all over the world. Our Good Pitch events have taken place in New York, London, San Francisco, Chicago, Nairobi, Mumbai, Buenos Aires and Jakarta.
Our Mission
We befriend great filmmakers, support great films, broker new partnerships, build new models, share knowledge and develop audiences globally.
We aim to lead by example - innovate, share and be copied, and innovate again.
Supporters
The Foundation is generously supported by Ford Foundation, Bertha Foundation and the BBC and other partners, both in the UK and internationally.
Our Films
So far our film grants have powered over 200 wonderful, award winning and influential films to be made including CITIZENFOUR, Virunga, Dirty Wars, All These Sleepless Nights, War Show, The End of the Line, Afghan Star, Hell and Back Again, Chosen and Moving to Mars.
But our work only begins there – we train, inform, inspire, broker and campaign too.
The global media landscape is transforming fast and we are committed to working with filmmakers and partner organisations to find new ways to make important, social-issue documentaries happen and to find their place in the world. We always need partners to help us achieve our goals – if you are interested in being one of them, we’d really, really like to hear from you.
