BOUBLI is a youth-led digital media founded in 2019. In Tunisian slang, boubli means a hubbub, a kerfuffle or a bangarang... in other words, a commotion often caused by conflicting views. Among young people, the term has taken quite a positive connotation which encapsulates the spirit of the project: "to make a boubli" is to disrupt norms and conventions.
BOUBLI is positioning itself as the alternative community for Tunisia's disaffected youth – with videos surpassing 4 million views.
Boubli’s mission is to empower young people, especially the most marginalised, to disrupt the media landscape and to challenge dominant narratives and stereotypical representations of youth through innovative content.
Our approach is based on an organic community that evolves according to the virality of our concepts. Not only does this result in a wider and more far-reaching impact than other digital media, It also allows us to export our digital impact to the real world, through mini-events, competitions, concerts, solidarity actions, etc.
Through its capacity-building scheme, the project has trained aspiring content creators to take control of their narratives, produce their own content, and run their broadcasting platforms.
