We are a charity providing a free employment law advice for employees and employers in Birmingham. If you are a trade union member, have legal insurance or can afford to employ a solicitor then we would expect you to pursue those options.
We can assist with a wide range of employment problems, from disciplinary hearings right up the employment tribunal, which might include representation in certain cases. We provide advice and information and offer a casework service where we act on your behalf.
The centre has recently received funding from the Access to Justice Foundation and the Big Lottery to support clients to conduct their own cases, with our on-going support, access to resources and guidance. Please contact us if you would like to know more about this service.
The centre is managed by a qualified solicitor who is supported by a paid caseworker and a dedicated team of experienced volunteers. We understand that when things go wrong at work it can be a stressful experience and we take pride in our friendly, approachable and supportive service. We will clearly explain your employment rights and provide an honest assessment of the strength of your case.
We are open from 10:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday for appointments and we can also be contacted by phone or email. You are welcome to drop into the office but we if we are busy and can only see you for brief period of time we will offer you an appointment.
Although the service is free we welcome donations. It is only due to the generosity of our clients that we can meet the costs involved in supporting people with employment problems. We believe in “People Helping People” and your donation will help us to assist others.
If you have any questions or would like more information about the centre please contact us.
