BASTA urbanism is a boutique urban design consultancy with a passion to make healthy and sustainable cities. We strongly believe that the design of our built environment is a key contributor to a happy and healthy urban population. BASTA urbanism believes in a collaborative approach, teaming up with small and large organisations from around the world to handle different design challenges.
Recent projects include design study City of the Future Utrecht, Randwick Health Campus in Sydney, NDSM-wharf in Amsterdam, E-bike Beach Express, the redevelopment of new town Nagele, MO City in Moscow, Plug-in City Strijp-S in Eindhoven and eco-city TEDA in Tianjin.
BASTA urbanism was founded in Amsterdam by Bas Horsting in 2010. Bas (1976) is a Dutch urbanist and architect. He graduated with a Master of Architecture degree from the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). After graduating in 2002 Bas moved to Sydney and started working on new towns in Asia and the Middle East. In 2006 Bas returned to the Netherlands where he further developed his urban design skills and started promoting a framework and community approach to urban planning. This approach allows urban developments to answer to today's demands, but to be flexible and open enough to adopt future changes of direction.
BASTA urbanism is a member of the Royal Institute of Dutch Architects BNA.
