The automed® system combines a sleek and ergonomic medication delivery device and an intuitive software platform to generate tamper-proof treatment records and aid management of livestock operations. Food safety, medication usage and animal traceability are ever growing concerns for consumers, livestock producers and these concerns by improving drug delivery, traceability, and compliance. The automed® device is a battery-operated, automatic syringe that monitors and records every treatment administered, including the medication, volume, date, time, location, animal ID and weight. This data is synchronized seamlessly with a cloud platform to provide veterinarians and managers traceability of onsite practices. The automed® Web Portal allows operators to manage inventory, and approve which medications are permitted for use at a given site and time during an animal’s lifecycle. Based on the extensive data captured by the automed device, machine learning models predict drug outcomes based on historical trends, enabling drug bench marking and predictive analytics. Disease outbreaks can be monitored geographically utilizing GPS data, and effective treatments recommended based on positive outcomes recorded in analogous regions.
These analytical tools are enhanced by automed®'s patented dose validation system, whereby the device monitors and alerts the user if air is detected in the syringe during administration, eliminating the risk of underdosing animals. When a needle is fitted, the system simultaneously checks for animal presence during drug delivery. A treatment is only marked as successful if the medication has been correctly delivered in vivo. automed® has already established its system with major livestock operations globally, partnering with some of the largest swine producers in North America, Europe and Asia.
