We have come a long way since the days of the punch-hole system introduced in Australia over 30 years ago. Although now there are only a few car parks in Australia still running the punch-hole system, it played a big role for many years in shopping centres where customers where offered 2 or 3 hours free parking. The reason for this was the competitive price of equipment and reduced ongoing costs of tickets and maintenance. Warringah Mall Shopping Centre was one of the last punch-hole systems installed back in 2001. With over 7 Million tickets issued per annum the system was replaced 10 years after it was commissioned.
