The Augusta Sports Council strengthens the quality of life and economic well-being for the city of Augusta through recruiting, supporting and attracting sporting events.
The Augusta Sports Council is an independent 501(c)3 organization aimed at securing, creating and managing sporting events and activities of all skill levels which will beneficially impact the community. Organizational success is largely due to inclusive partnerships with local sports bodies, businesses and government agencies.
The Augusta Sports Council presented the inaugural Ray Guy Award in December 2000. Named for Thomson, GA native and Oakland Raiders great, Ray Guy, the award honors the nation's best collegiate punter. Each year, the Ray Guy Award is presented on live television as part of the ESPN College Football Awards Show.
