The Arizona Rattlers have been a dominant force in arena and indoor football since their inception in 1992. Known for their high-energy games and dedicated fan base, the Rattlers have made a significant mark in the sport with a total of five ArenaBowl Championships and two Indoor Football League (IFL) Championships.
Ron Shurts, a prominent Valley entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in financial services and management, took over as the majority owner and CEO in 2011. Shurts has been a season ticket holder since the team's first snap, demonstrating his long-standing commitment and passion for the team. Under his leadership, the Rattlers won three consecutive ArenaBowl Championships (2012, 2013, 2014) and secured their first IFL Championship in 2017, just one year after joining the league.
Kevin Guy, a stalwart in arena/indoor football coaching, is in his 23rd season and serves as both the team president and head coach. Guy is one of only two people in Arena Football League history to participate in the ArenaBowl as a player, assistant coach, and head coach. He is also one of only two coaches to win championships in both the AFL and IFL. Under his guidance, the Rattlers have achieved remarkable success, including four straight ArenaBowl appearances and maintaining a 13-season streak with 10 or more wins. Guy's impressive win rate (74%) and multiple Coach of the Year awards highlight his strategic prowess and leadership.
