Argos is a new identity method which is trustless, decentralized, corroborated and more resilient to attack.
The Argos solution is designed from the core sociological underpinnings of identity. Society relies upon the testimony of individuals and institutions who can affirm who you are. This is our enabling insight.
An Argos identity is initially created as a trustless declaration of identity: an unknown party making a stand-alone claim of existence with no evidence and no attribution.
This declaration is implemented as a cryptographic private-public key pair, the private key is generated and stored on a dedicated personal device of the individual’s choice, and the public key is published onto the Argos blockchain as a singleton record using Decentralized Identifier (DIDs) standards.
Once established, this digital identity can be linked to any number of testifying identity nodes on the network (i.e., bank, insurance company, government agencies). Each node independently manages data security and Know Your Customer (KYC) to their own satisfaction. The quality and credibility of the digital identity increases with the diversity, independence, and reputational value of the testifying nodes.
The diversity of testifying entities, each independently reporting facts and insights about an individual creates accretive confidence that can be scored on objective terms. Combining many independent sources, each one affirming the testimony and experience of the other, forms the basis of our identity proof.
