Aranya Agricultural Alternatives

Aranya Agricultural Alternatives has been working with rural communities in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states for the last 20 years with the goal to advocate and promote alternative and Permanent Agriculture practices (with a focus on sustainable natural resource management) and to strengthen the farming communities to achieve food and nutrition security. ‘Aranya’ is the Sanskrit word for 'Forest'. Ancient Indian mythology considered forest as the home for all life forms. The forest is defined as a sustainable energy generating system, and is a vital ecosystem maintaining ecological balance. It is a self-regulating process, with abilities to sustain the present and the future. Therefore the organization was christened Aranya Agricultural Alternatives to encapsulate the regeneration philosophy of age old Indian nature tradition.
