Aquantis has achieved a renewable energy breakthrough with its 1.25 MW marine turbine, which generates electric power from constantly flowing ocean currents. This clean energy resource can help fill the void of baseload power with wind and solar, and from the retirement of coal-powered plants in the Southeastern U.S. Forty percent of the world’s population lives within 100 kilometers of a seacoast. This is a ready and growing market for clean, renewable energy, but it is limited by the power intermittency of wind and solar. Harnessing the continuous energy of ocean gyre currents is a renewable energy game-changer, enabling cost-effective, clean power without the need for back up from conventional sources and/or battery storage. Aquantis is positioned to lead the production of cost-effective marine turbines driven by the constant and powerful kinetic energy of the world’s ocean currents. In 2018, investment in new renewable energy systems, mostly wind and solar, was c. $300 billion. Within this decade, Aquantis, as a first-mover, baseload power technology provider, aims to establish as a marine turbine industry forming a new pillar of the global clean energy mix.
