Die Firma AKH – Antriebstechnik KATT Hessen GmbH entstand im Jahr 2002 durch Neufirmierung der im Jahr 1924 gegründeten KATT-MOTOREN-FABRIK und der Entwicklungsgesellschaft AKS.
Der Hauptsitz der AKH befindet sich im nordhessischen Homberg (Efze).
In Dresden befindet sich ein weiteres Entwicklungsbüro.
Seit November 2014 ist AKH Teil des brasilianischen WEG Konzerns, einem der führenden internationalen Elektromotorenhersteller.
