American Legacy Theatre is a theatre for social change. We aim to be a theatre that is accessible - affordable, relevant, and exciting for all people, and represents all voices.
Mission: A.L.T. generates inviting, reimagined theatrical experiences for people to have a voice in enriching society.
Vision: A.L.T. aspires for a day when every American has access to the empathy-building art form of theatre, and has a respected voice “in the room where it happens.”
OUR WORK
In Classrooms: Only with American Legacy Theatre, Students Create Change (SC2) helps students write, design, and act in their own original production around social issues critical to them ultimately to teach us as a society how we might be better from their perspective; budget, content, marketing is run by the students. Up to 80 contact hours/cohort. Grades PreK-12.
In Community: Only with American Legacy Theatre is theatre a nomadic vehicle for social change to break down barriers and build bridges by increasing empathy and driving awareness into action. With our innovative storytelling in partnership with the community, the intangible becomes tangible - opioid epidemic, gender gaps, racial inequality, and so much more!
In Homes: New to America and only with American Legacy Theatre, Home Theatre pairs a community member (host) with an artist to share their truths and have an original solo-production built in seven days. This piece is performed in the host’s home (digital or in-person) for an intimate audience selected by the host. Simultaneously, the piece is captured via video to live on in the Home Theatre Library thus making the exclusive universally inclusive.
In Workplace: Only with American Legacy Theatre can organizations realize the fullest impact they can have internally and externally through the increase in empathy. Formatted to meet shared goals, we partner to improve cross-functionally.
