Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre/Notes in Motion creates original dance theatre performances, presents dance education programs in NYC public schools, and community arts-in-education programs.
Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre creates dynamic dance theatre that activates emotional expression. Through an interplay of athletic and articulate motion, we present theatrical and immediate works that engage audiences from start to finish and beckon a response of thought, feeling, and soul.
Notes in Motion, a vendor of NYC Department of Education, offers inclusive in-school, after-school, and community programs that teach dance styles including ballet, modern, jazz, African dance, Latin dance, hip hop, tap, musical theater, and more. Our dance programs combine technical skill-based instruction with creative expression and foster self-discovery, risk-taking, and individual leadership. We have brought arts programs to 140 schools and over 120,000 students in NYC.
Our programs have received support from the New York State Council on the Arts; NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs; City Council Members Rosie Mendez, Carlina Rivera, Kevin Riley, James Gennaro, and Bill De Blasio; Manhattan Borough President; Credit Suisse; Bank of America; Lower Manhattan Cultural Council; Bronx Council on the Arts; The Harkness Foundation; and more.
