UK-based Amanacard is a social impact enterprise founded in 2016 by leading subject matter experts committed to supporting organisations in high-risk jurisdictions to minimise the cash footprint created by their cash-based programming whilst simultaneously ensuring the delivery of critical cash payments via vetted networks of merchants that operate a verifiable end-to-end money transfer service. To date, Amanacard has supported over 200,000 beneficiaries, independently verifying transactions totalling over $200 million to families in urgent need of assistance, local businesses, and the staff and suppliers of hospitals, schools and charity field offices, providing the confidence to banks and donors to keep the lifeline open. The model was originally tested in Syria, and has since been replicated in other countries, including most recently in Afghanistan where Amanacard has made possible the delivery of over $20 million in aid to end recipients that otherwise would not have reached them.
