Alatheia Riding Center (ARC) is a therapeutic horseback riding facility that serves the special needs and veteran communities of Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan and Grant Counties of Washington State. Through Equine Assisted Services we serve 100 participants (ages 3-87) each week with the help of more than 150 volunteers. Our mission is to profoundly change lives with the healing power of horses.
Therapeutic riding profoundly impacts the physical, social and cognitive functions of people with disabilities. For the physically disabled child or adult it improves strength, balance, and coordination. For those with autism, the interpersonal interactions experienced improve social skills; for the learning disabled it opens pathways to learning. All benefits transfer into daily life activities. Over time, participants gain insight into their individual strengths and identify areas for improvement. The progress they make with Alatheia sets a foundation to move on to more challenging physical and intellectual endeavors.
ARC’s vision is that all NCW people with disabilities are contributing and valued members of the greater community.
