Ohio will be the first state to develop the Adult Advocacy Centers model – one-point facilities equipped to provide holistic, accessible, trauma-informed services to adult crime victims with disabilities.
Plans are in motion for 10 regionally located centers, each housing a training center and providing space and coordination for a multi-disciplinary team that will include the victim themselves and a support person of their choosing, law enforcement, prosecutors, medical staff, victim advocates, mental health specialists, forensic interviewers and representatives from each of Ohio’s disability-specific agencies. An RV mobile unit with medical and a forensic interview room will also give us the flexibility to serve the people who need us, no matter where they are.
