In 1999 I began working in the field of adoption as a social worker at one of the oldest adoption agencies in the country. There I screened potential parents before accepting them as clients and helped them to complete the required paper work for this country and the country from which the client was adopting, including, China, Korea, Ecuador, Colombia and Guatemala. Eventually I was promoted and went on to coordinate adoptions from Latin America- specifically Colombia, Ecuador and Guatemala. I also have experience facilitating domestic adoptions and working with families after they have adopted.
I have led workshops on adoption as a way to expand one's family. My clinical work includes counseling and educating straight, gay, singles, couples, adopted teens and children. I have traveled all over the world as an advocate for children and to promote the understanding and importance of adoption. I am passionate about helping pre and post-adoptive families become stronger by providing them with the tools and resources that are sometimes difficult to find.
