Abbey Carpet & Floor started as a single floor covering store in Sacramento, California in 1958.
The owners realized in the early 60’s that there was a fairly new concept, “franchising.” Abbey became the first franchisor in the state of California, preceding even that little hamburger maker, McDonalds.
