Who we are:
AWC Technology Ltd is a dedicated company focused on the delivery of the innovative Articulated Wind Column (AWC) technology to the international offshore wind industry.
Drawing on DORIS' 50 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and 20 years in offshore renewables, AWC Technology Ltd is committed to developing and delivering the AWC’s flexible and innovative technology.
The AWC:
A patented technology, the Articulated Wind Column is a specialised wind turbine which ranges from 8MW to 17+MW in capacity.
Suited for water depths between from 70 and 200m+, there exists over 1,165,400km2 of space globally which is appropriate for AWC installation, from the UK, Norway, France and the Baltic Sea to Taiwan, Vietnam, and Japan. Such suitability provides the AWC with a potential installation capacity of 11,654MW by 2050, allowing 10MW per turbine.
Innovation:
The ground-breaking technology of the AWC offers quicker, simpler and more environmentally friendly turbine installation. The lack of piling requirements lowers seabed and marine impact whilst reduced specialised vessel need, and the turbine’s insensitivity to soil conditions provides flexibility in construction. These benefits allow the AWC to move one step closer to lowering the costs of the UK offshore wind industry.
The AWC technology is also fiercely resilient, having been present in the North Sea for decades; projects such as the Maureen Articulated Concrete Column to the North East Frigg Steel Control tower exemplify the AWC’s robust endurance of harsh conditions without the need for maintenance.
