AMBS Architects are an international team of highly skilled architects, designers and engineers, delivering two-fold expertise in architecture and project management. Our approach puts into practice participation, creativity and interdisciplinary, and we give primary allegiance to a design process that directly engages the client and end user. AMBS Architects was founded by Iraqi architect Ali Mousawi, who was later joined by Amir Mousawi and Marcos De Andres in 2007. Expanding on Ali’s 40 years of experience working in both the UK and Iraq, we have established ourselves as one of Iraq’s foremost architecture and project management firms, with a growing team of highly skilled professionals in offices between London, Baghdad and Basra. Being based in both the UK and Iraq, we uphold a forward-thinking approach informed by a deep cultural understanding. Working closely with the Iraqi government and dedicated teams of experts internationally, we are leading socially ambitious projects that are making a significant contribution to the future of Iraq. Our projects range from urban master plans to residential developments, from civic and healthcare buildings to cultural centres. Since 2003 we have been actively involved in the rebuilding of Iraq, and we are committed to minimising environmental impact and optimising energy efficiency. AMBS Architects is a RIBA chartered practice, and is certified as ISO 9001:2008 & ISO 14001:2004.
