The ACE Mentor Program of Los Angeles / Orange County (ACE L.A./O.C.) has served as the local affiliate to the national non-profit organization since 2002. The program encourages high school students to pursue careers in architecture, construction and engineering (ACE) by bringing professionals from the industry into high schools twice a month to mentor students.
Mentors for the program are recruited from local firms specializing in architecture, construction or engineering and meet with high school student participants after school every other week to teach and engage them in the ACE industries.
The ACE Mentor Program of America is now the construction industry’s fastest-growing mentoring program and currently reaches over 8,000 students annually. In addition to teaching students about the world of design and construction, the ACE program also allows students to get hands-on experience by visiting the mentors’ offices, taking field trips to work sites and creating their own projects.
ACE Mentor L.A. / O.C. also supports students’ goals financially and has awarded over $1,000,000 in high school and college scholarships to participating and alumni ACE students. Most ACE graduates are in college or already working in the design and construction profession, and many of them return to the program as mentors.
