Way back in ’96, a couple of Kiwi’s, Megan Sargent and Brent Milburn, rock up in the USA on a Bagel pilgrimage. The mission – to learn the art of Bagel making. They learnt everything there was to know about bagels from the best. Mixing, proofing then perfectly steam baking to bring you the finest bagels. The early mornings, burnt fingers and lessons in America were definitely worth it. With bellies and heads full of Bagel love, Megan and Brent arrive back in New Zealand and the ABE’S Bagel Bakery is born.
ABE’S began life as a café bringing authentic bagels to Auckland’s CBD, it soon established a loyal following and began providing fresh bagels to supermarket chains nationally.
