These products include: the ML spectrometer, a compact bench top FTIR spectrometer; the MLp, a portable FTIR spectrometer for out-of-lab use; The PAL FTIR analyzer for measuring key components in oil, lubricating fluids & fuels; Handheld FTIR spectrometer, which is designed to be used in the lab or at-site in the field & features interchangeable ATR, diffuse reflection, specular reflection & grazing angle reflection sampling interfaces; and handheld, portable FTIR analyzer for dedicated use in out-of-lab sites. These products serve a host of applications including: aerospace, where hand held systems are used to analyze the surfaces of composite material to ensure that no thermal or chemical degradation has occurred & to aid in preparing metal & composite components for bonding processes; geosciences, where handheld FTIRs are used to analyze rocks, minerals & soil in the field, at the site locale; paints, primers & coatings, measure coating thickness & uniformity & ensure that the correct coatings are applied; metal fabrication & finishing, used to ensure that protective polymer films or lubricating chemicals are correctly applied. These handheld FTIR systems are used across all industries for identifying & quantifying residues & contaminants such as silicone & hydrocarbon oils on metal & non-metallic surfaces, as well as for evaluation or organic compounds purposely placed on surfaces to eliminate friction etc. PAL & iPAL analyzers are used in monitoring the condition of lubricants used in high value machinery to ensure proper operation, as well as determining low level of biodiesel in diesel fuel in critical applications such as nuclear power plants & aviation fuel. The ML & MLp analyzers are widely used in quality control & quality assurance applications across a number of industries including specialty chemicals & pharmaceuticals.
