Kids Kung Fu Classes
Our kids program teaches Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, a traditional style of Chinese martial arts that emphasizes long range techniques, quick advances and retreats, wide stances, kicking and leaping techniques, whirling circular blocks, quickness, and agility. It also develops balance, leg strength, self control and a strong understanding of body mechanics. In addition to forms and movements, students are taught that they should never use their skills offensively. While our classes are designed to be challenging and fun, student safety is always paramount.
Adult Self Defense Classes
5 Elements Adult programs teaches self defense from a style of Kung Fu called Wing Chun, which is a versatile and effective martial art system. It is based on human biomechanics and uses straight line strikes which are fast and direct, and give the greatest economy of motion. Wing Chun is known for attacking and evading through the use of strong angles and body structure. By enhancing the sensitivity of touch through training, a Wing Chun practitioner is able to sense, predict and adapt quickly to an opponents’ attack. Simultaneous offense and defense techniques, trapping, and short, precise movements make Wing Chun an aggressive and overwhelming fighting style. Northern Shoilin Kung Fu forms are also used to develop balance, leg strength and a strong understanding of body mechanics.
Tai Chi Classes
Tai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for both defense training and health benefits. We teach Zhao Bao Tai Chi, which originated in Zhao Bao, China in the Sixteenth Century.
